Road map to reopen Mosques and Islamic Centres in NSW.

The NSW government has released a road map to outline what people can and can’t do as the state’s vaccination rate increases.

The gradual opening will commence on Monday 11th October 2021.

What you need to know for the reopening of Mosques and Islamic Centres:

PHASE 1: 11th October 2021 – At 70% vaccination rate:

a. Only vaccinated people can enter the mosque or prayer hall.

b. Density is capped at 1 person per 4sqm without a specific limit on numbers. Numbers are subject to the size of the prayer area. (Example: Each 100sqm can allow 25 people)

c. Social distancing is required 1.5m apart.

d. Masks are mandatory indoors and during prayers.

e. Covid Safe check-ins and proof of vaccination is required.

PHASE 2: 18th or 25th October 2021 – At 80% vaccination rate (Subject to reaching 80% vaccination rate):

a. Vaccinated and unvaccinated persons can enter the mosque.

b. Density is capped at 1 person per 4sqm without a specific limit on numbers. Numbers are subject to the size of the prayer area. (Example: Each 100sqm can allow 25 people)

c. Social distancing is required 1.5m apart.

d. Masks are mandatory indoors and during prayers.

e. Covid Safe check-ins required.

Note: Islamic Centres with multipurpose use and section, such as, Masjid, Education and classrooms, recreation halls, Gym etc in one complex, can only accommodate for a mixed environment (vaccinated and unvaccinated) in the prayer hall or Mosque.

PHASE 3: 1st of December 2021:

a. All persons can attend the mosque

b. Density is capped at 1 person per 2sqm

c. Masks no longer mandatory

Please note that the above guidelines are subject to change as per the latest Public Health order.

Please prepare your mosques and Islamic centres accordingly as we begin to welcome worshipers back into the Mosques.

In order to avoid inconvenience, We recommend that you reopen at the second phase when the state reaches 80% vaccination.
